The Hippo Lodge was established in August 2018 & conveniently located, between the main street and St Lucia estuary. The 3-star lodge is self-catering and will fulfill all your needs & also offers its guests a safari experience, by the sister company, Go Safaris, so you can enjoy your time exploring the surrounding iSimangaliso Wetland Park, and the nearby Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Big 5 Game Park, or take a sunset boat cruise or some historical sightseeing in the nearby attractions.

The Hippo Cafe
The Hippo Cafe is part of the Hippo Lodge and situated on the main street, McKenzie Street, of the St Lucia Town. Established in February 2019, it has become popular with international and local guests, with its unique and bespoke menus option delivering an authentic taste of South African food.
A unique menu with a South African flair, the chefs at Hippo Cafe is always experimenting to infuse new flavours and bring about new creations for you to explore.
Popular with the locals and international visitors are the pizza’s, burgers, salads & breakfast + coffee options, Hippo Cafe offers the most delicious and artistically creative gourmet milkshakes. A real family-friendly environment with the introduction of our new kiddies menu the kids can join in on the dining experience.
